We are in the process of having a snap lock standing seam metal roof installed on our home. The roofing contractor has scratched the finish down to bare metal in numerious places. They stated they would touch up the scratches but I am concerned they will end up rusting. The panels have a kynar finish over gavalum.

In my experience, touch-up can provide reasonably good corrosion resistance even over time. Of course, it's not as good as the original finish. The bigger problem with touch-up is that, oftentimes, the touch-up is not a Kynar / Hylar formulation so it might fade rapidly. Particularly if they are not careful in how they apply the touch-up, it could create an unsightly situation down the road.
