Hello there. We have a metal roof on our house with fiberglass insulation on the floor of the attic space... the attic area still gets about 70 degrees hotter than other attics in our area. We've had trouble with our A/C units up there with rust problems which some have attributed to the high heat in the summer... we're in Louisiana. It has been suggested that we use a blown foam insulation that would seal the attic space completely... the material adheres to the metal roof and they also seal off the soffit area and any previous vents. The foam is not water based, does not shrink, fills in all holes and is not tasty for animals.
The company states that the temp in the attic would not get up above 110 to 130 degrees... and we would also not have the problems with the a/c units anymore.
The cost is $5,100.00 for the job...
Does this sound appropriate?
thanks a bunch

I am familiar in general terms with what you're talking about though I have not had any first-hand experience with it.
As long as the insulation is properly installed, I would say this would work.
However, I would also investigate the possibility of just adding soffit and ridge ventilation to your attic, if you do not already have those things.
