Hello, I own a park model trailer in WA state, which has a unpainted metal roof (auxiallary roof). I noticed during cleaning that it it is beginning to rust especially around bathroom vents etc is there anything I cando to stop this? Should I be concerned? Ido not know the gauge of roofing, and I have owned for about 5 years so roof is 5+ years old probably closer to 10. What about "snowroof" or rust paint is this feasible, trailer is in a heavily forested area with minimal sun exposure and maximum debris from pine needles etc., Thank you for your response Steve

Before applying any sort of rust inhibitive primer or coating, follow the instructions closely. The surface must be as clean as possible. These coatings will likely help preserve the life of your roof.

I have a metal roof, where my evaporative cooler dripped, a hole rusted through the metal so now I have a large 8" bare spot on the roof. I am having a very hard time find a roofer who will fix this. Is there something I can use to repair this other than the duct tape I'm currently using? -Janet

There are some butyl tapes with aluminum on their top surface which might work well. Sold under the name of Peel and Seal. Also, if you do a Google search for "metal roof restoration," you will see several options for various patches and elastomeric coatings. Todd Miller
