i am curious whether it is possible to add a roofing system over an existing shingled roof, but creating a much higher peak/pitch?
I envision doing a bracing system for the new roof out of metal, and not putting any wood under the new pannels. The weight of the new larger roof is my primary concern.
I am in dallas/fort worth texas area, so the weight of snow is not a problem.

This is possible though the exact framing and battens/purlins depend upon exactly what sort of metal roof panel you choose. Also, I would suggest having a structural engineer do an evaluation before proceeding.
Use this site to fine some metal roofs you like and then contact the manufacturers directly to discuss your particular application.
Thanks.
