Sounds like that has more to do with the structure design than the roof but certainly going to a heavier gauge system such as 24 or even 22 gauge that sits largely on the roof deck would be helpful.
I live in a very high snow load area. Truckee, CA. Last year we had 15 ft. of snow accumulation that destroyed almost every roof in the area, to some extent. With a standing seam roof, is there a vented ridge and wall condition product on the market that can withstand brutal weight limits? Basically, I am looking for a system with full ventilation and the ability for an adult to jump up and down on the metal with no damage. Ice damming is a concern.
Sorry, maybe I was unclear. The metal roofing systems are what was destroyed. We have the "Sierra cement" in our area. It is a very heavy, wet snow that happens when temperatures are just above freezing. We have temperature swings of 60+ degrees in a day. There is a lot of melt and refreeze happening every day. This causes extreme damage to metal roofing as sections that weigh as much as a small car, break off and pummel anything in it's path. I am looking for a vented ridge system that can withstand these brutal weight conditions.
