I am building a new barn for horse stalls that is a single pitch 30x20 for two stalls right now. I have wood purlins and was wondering what to run between the purlins and the metal roof. I do not want to use OSB so was looking at just using synthetic roof underlayment or putting 1/2 rigid foam board down with underlayment over that then metal roof. however I also read that some people have used bubble insulation between purlins and metal roof. Budget is somewhat important but want a quality installation as well. Roof pitch is 3/12 and I am on the west side of Washington State which gets very wet in the winter. thank you
Installing a metal roof gives your roof and home a lot of benefits regarding the longevity and rigidness of the material. I know it will cost you more times expensive than the other materials but can last several times longer than the other roofing materials roof.
Using synthetic roof underlayment or rigid foam board with underlayment should be effective, considering your budget and the wet winters.
