How much cooler will a metal roof be compared to a CONCRETE TILE roof? I live in Florida and this is the main deciding factor in selecting a new roof (it is doubtful this house will be here another 30 years so longevity is secondary). Cooling costs comparrisons between an asphalt shingle roof and a metal roof show a consderable savings which would be worth the additional cost of a metal roof. But my house has a concrete tile roof and I am wondering if I will see similar savings. I hope this question is relevant to this site... Thank you.

There have been some studies against white tile. If you email me directly, I can email some results to you. My email is [email protected]
Very light colored (white) tile roofs are very reflective and can do well. However, as you know, in Florida, those roofs develop mildew and do not stay bright white for long.
Additionally, tile roofs absorb a great deal of heat and can radiate that heat into the home even after the sun has gone down.
