Very little research has been done in this area. This is because, in instances of typical construction with a well-ventilated attic beneath the roof, the roof will probably have little impact on winter efficiency. Heat needs to be held in the home with insulation down on top of the ceilings.
There is a chance that, in other types of construction (without a vented attic), metal roofing might play some nominal role in holding heat in.
