With fibrous insulation, it is always recommended that you install solid sheathing to combat any condensation concerns.
I am building a 26x40 garage in North Carolina. Will be using 2x10 rafters spaced 24" apart. I plan to install a metal roof. I want to be able to maintain reasonable temps in the garage in the summer and winter so I plan to install R38 fiberglass insulation between the rafters leaving air gap. Plan to use a portable AC unit in the summer and small wood stove in the winter when I am in the garage working.
Questions:
Would you recommend I install decking and 1x4 purlins, If no decking should I go with 2x4 or 1x4 purlins.
Zoning requirements require my max height to be 17. How much should I allow from top of ridge board to top of metal roof cap for decking, purlins, metal roof and metal roof ridge cap.
