Whether or not you want gutters is up to you. If you don't have gutters, where will the water go? Will it get into your crawlspace or basement or cause erosion or flooding around your house. Yes, I recommend 6" gutters with metal roofs. I'd be concerned your 4" gutters would not work well.

Newbie here, we are getting quotes for a new metal roof. It will be covering existing shingle roof.
The best quote from the highest rated contractor told me our existing gutters will not work, (they are 4 inch gutters)
They said we dont need gutters, but if we do they reccomend 6 inch gutters.
Another contractor said they would remove the gutters and then put them back up.
So we are in a quandry, do we need gutters or not? Will the current gutters just let the faster moving rain water shoot right over?
Thanks
