I am installing a metal roof on my house. I live in Houston, Tx and my question is the sheetmetal effected by the humid climate. If so what do you recommend. I will be removing the old chingles.

Houston is what I call a "roof-brutal" environment. As such, it is ideal for metal roofing and many homeowners have chosen metal roofing because it is so far more durable than other roofing materials.
Houston is one of the country's leading markets for residential metal roofing. I have seen jobs dating back as far as the early 1960s, particularly in the River Oaks and Memorial areas, that are still protecting and beautifying like new.
Today's metal roofing has many choices available in steel, aluminum, and copper. The steel roofing features metallic coatings as well as, often, other coatings for strong corrosion protection even in climates such as yours.

How well does metal roofing stand up to weather on the North East Coast of the USA (New England Coast)? We have alot of fog, wind and rain along with alot of ice in the winter. How would metal or aluminum stand up to these conditions? How costly would it be for our 1 1/2 story with a full front dormer ~ 30' by 20'home,medium pitch with a 24' by 18' el? The el also has a med pitch and is 1 1/2 story. We actually live on an island off NE Maine.

Wow -- you live in a beautiful area! But, I know the weather can be nasty.
Actually, you're in one of the "hottest" areas for metal roofing right now because consumers are finding that it withstands your weather very well.
I would suggest looking for a product that has substantiated wind test data. Other than that, there are other considerations such as coating type and quality, profile, etc. Generally, find some products you like which you think would look nice on your home and then investigate those products direct through their manufacturers for more details on why they would be good for your area.
I am sorry but, because the Metal Roofing Alliance is a trade association made up of competing companies, it is against our antitrust guidelines to discuss pricing in a public forum.
Again, if you choose some products you like, you can then investigate pricing with the representatives for those products.
