We are considering installing a metal roof on our new home. We are concerned that since the property is oceanfront (SALT AIR!) that the roof will corrode. I know they are treated but what happens when they put the screws in, won't it remove the coating and allow corrossion?
Thanks!

Today's metal roofing products go to great lengths in terms of base metal and final coatings to protect against corrosion. Also, many products have completely concealed fasteners. The fasteners are also corrosion resistant and can even be stainless steel. There are also other metal options in addition to steel such as aluminum and copper.
