This is difficult to visualize, and they may be able to attractively cover any void with special made flashing but certainly if there is an open void between the roofing the the ridge vent, that will be a problem. Feel free to email photos to me if you wish. todd@asktoddmiller.com

I am concerned about a newly replaced roof on one elevation both sides. My question is, if the ventilation cap was put on crooked by the roofer should the metal sheeting on both sides of the roof be replace. They say they will just move the ventilation cap to the correct position. Which will leave exposed hole below the line of the ventilation cap on one side, the other side would be covered by the ventilation cap but I still believe this will leak if not soon in the future. We have torrential down pours and strong winds of anywhere from 25 to 60mph. I believe I paid for a new roof and getting a second hand one...what are your thoughts or reccomendations on this?
