The key is in making sure that the panel being installed has been designed and approved for installations such as this.

I'm fixing to put a metal roof over my existing roof...I've read your forums...the salesman told me to put down 1×4 slats without felt paper...will there be any probems with wrinkles in the metal from walking between the 3ft gap of the slats...or will I have problems with this later on as far as going back up to tighten screws down and walking between the slats...one last note my house was built n 1926 so its not 4×8 sheets of plywood...its more like 8inch by 10ft wood planks...very thick though...

Check with the manufacturer on the application.
A 3' is definitely going to have some deflection to it when walking on it.
