I have a wood/coal furnace that burns high sulphur soft coal. Smoke often is inverted down and onto the roof. Can a steel roof with a zinc or aluzume coatings withstand this environment?? I know that aluminum can not, aluminum signs corrode at power plants. Thanks for any opinions.................jds

John, That is an interesting question. Regardless of metal type, in the presence of enough and continual acid exposure, you will get some corrosion. What kind of metal roof were you thinking of for your home? Eric
