We just has a new 24 gauge standing seam roof installed over the old shingle roof. In my view it does not look good. Do I have a right to be concerned? Do I have a legitimate concern? ? Click on link below to see pictures.

I just had a 30 x 40 garage built and had a metal roof intsalled. It looks great and all the panales are made for the design of the building except one side. They contractor screwed up and for got to lenthen the panals after a change order. They then added 2 ft to a 8 ft panel to get ther 10 ft and now I have a seam. It does not look that bad but I would much rather have a contnous pamel to look at Thoughts ????

Were these panels rollformed or formed by crimping tools? If they were rollformed, this does seem like an excessive amount of rippling.
If they were hand-formed using crimping tools, this look is not uncommon. In many cases folks will desire this sort of look for an aged or historic look as this would be typical of the metal roofs installed prior to the development of rollforming technology.

Roy, this is certainly less than ideal. If he lapped them properly, though, the service life should be okay provided the roof does not have real shallow pitch. Feel free to email photos to me at todd@asktoddmiller.com
