BHP Steel in Australia specifies a minimum pitch of 1:12 for corrugated Zincalume panel roofs. I thought the min. rated pitch was more like 3:12. Do you know if this is because Australia has less stringent requirements or if they use a different method of installation? Also, is it better to install fasteners at the top of the corrugation than the bottom for waterproofness? Thanks, Eric

Minimum pitch is specified by individual manufacturers based upon each product's performance characteristics and testing. Under absolutely no circumstances should a product be installed at a lower pitch than its minimum specified pitch. I am not familiar enough with the Aussie BHP panels to say why their minimum pitch is lower though I will say that most of the Aussie panels have a fairly high rib configuration and that would be a factor. Most US manufacturers want the fasteners in the top of the crimps. Todd Miller
