I am planning to re-roof my 45 foot geodesic dome. I presently have asphalt shingles and want to replace them with a steel or aluminum roof. Not sure if I can use a steel roof on a dome. If I can, what do you recommend. I really don't want to replace asphalt shingles every 20 years. any help would be appreciated.

I have seen metal shingles used on domes but I have not seen vertical panels used on them.

Do you have a picture?
You could likely use the panel systems as Todd mentioned and you could use membrane or solid metal panels if mechanically seamed or soldered.
