Probably not a lot of difference structurally and most folks, for residnetial application, would suggest solid decking under both products. It comes down a lot to aesthetics and also whether or not you want exposed fasteners.

Hidden fastener will be more expensive both in terms of materials and installation labor. Actual cost difference would have to be determined with your local contractor as there are many variables. I encourage folks to request materials that meet Metal Construction Association requirements for Premium Certified Metal Roofing.

Concealed Fasteners do not require maintenance. exposed screws can loosen over time and require tightening. Additionally, the washers can break down over time and may require fastener replacement.

We are in the process of researching metal roofs & installation. We would like to know if there is a structural/preferred way to install in reference to hidden fasteners versus screws w/gaskets. Are there any advantages/disadvantages? Would one be any better than the other structurally?
Please advise ASAP.

No real structural benefits given that both panels are of similar thicknesses and attachment methods.
Biggest benefit is the aesthetics (most prefer the hidden fastener) and the maintenance of a hidden fastener system.
