hello - i'm wondering if a standard metal roof application will work for a 1.5 : 12 pitch/slope? will standard seams & fasteners be ok or do i need to contact a commercial contractor as mentioned in a previous post for a 'specialized' version of a metal roof for this low of a slope? thx very much for any feedback.

Won't a traditional double crimp standing seam roof work in this case? We still do this kind of work with hand tools. Terry at Steffen Brothers Roofing Pandora, OH

Our house roof has a 2.3X 12 pitch and we were wondering if we can get a metal roof with this pitch. Also what type of metal roof can we get and how long can we expect it to last? What kind of warranty would we get on a roof like that?

Standard shingles to the best of my knowledge are not warranted and should not be used at that low of a roof pitch.
There are some vertical seam metal panels that work great at that pitch. your selection of available products is limited from what it would be at a steeper pitch but still there are many great products from which you may choose.

For that sort of pitch you really need a mechanically seamed standing seam. That will require a contractor with at least a seaming machine if not a panel rollformer as well. It would not necessarily have to be a commercial roofing contractor but oftentimes they are most likely to have the required equipment and expertise,

Trent, great point. Because not so many folks do that type of work any more, I neglected to mention it. But, yes, that should work as well. Thank you. And I have relatives who live in Pandora! :-)

Larry, there are standing seam metal roofs that will work well on that pitch. Metal shingles will not. By choosing a premium paint system and top quality metal, you really should be able to expect this roof to last at least 40 years before it needs to be repainted, for even longer life. Warranty will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Hi,
I am in the process of ordering a manufactured home. I originally chose a 4/12 hinged roof but recently changed my mind to 2 2/12 roof so I could have 3 bay tower windows on the home. I am still in the process of choosing the roofing product but now I am concerned after reading your posts that I should not choose a 2 2/12 roof pitch at all. Please help!

Don't plan on using an asphalt shingle in this case.
You can run many standing seam metal profiles that low and lower.
What kind of roof were you considering?

Mechanically seamed is the only option in this case and is suitable for 0:12 applications when done properly.

You are one of only a few folks still doing that. Probably another trade and skill set that is dying because of the lack of properly trained and skilled individuals.
