I am heading up the effort to restore an 1840's log cabin. We are interested in using steel/metal roofing, in particular the raised seam style. But we don't know if this style would be consistent with metal roofs of that era as we want to maintain as much 1840's material in the restoration as possible.
Can youi tell me what kind of metal roofing was used in the geographic area during the 1840's era that would be available today.
Thanks

Standing seam would likely be consistent with that era.
Of course, it would be a hand seamed and formed panel as opposed to what is current available today.
