I am looking for a new roof for a cabin in the woods at our family farm. The current one is just your basic shingles and are starting to rot, fall off, and grow moss. I am looking for a solution that will hold up better and was wondering what style would work best. I am thinking a vertical panel so with our highly sloped roof all of the sticks that fall from the trees will roll off. What do you guys think? Also i need to put siding on and i was also thinking metal. I don't want it to look like a tin hut. Any help would be great!

Vertical seam is certainly a good choice.
Some of the heavily textured shake profile metal roofs though could protect against and even hide minor indentations that could occur if heavy branches hit the roof.
