I installed a galvalume metal roof. It has very light white stains on it. Could be scratches from the installers. Is this a common occurance? Is there any way to prevent this from happening? It is a 10/12 roof, we roll formed the panels. The roof looks great but you see the irregularities when you get up close. Is there any way to make the abrasions go away. It is galvalume plus, and I have a dissatisfied homeowner. Do you have any type of waiver form for this and oil canning? I may have clients sign the forms to exclude us from cosmetic damage during installation. I feel the problem will be masked with time, but any ideas?

This sounds to me like white rust from improper storage of the panels.
The Metal Construction Association website includes a technical bulletin on oilcanning which may be helpful.
