I am soon to be in the process of re-roofing my home. I have an older home, with shingles over the original part of the house. Everywhere I read seems to say different things about the same question: do I HAVE to put slats over the existing roof? Some say yes, others no?? If I do put slats on do they run vertical or horizontal to the slant? The newer part of my home has a pretty flat pitch, and no attic. I was planning on just scraping off the rock as much as I could, then putting fan insulation over that, and then the roofing? I see on here that you mention in several posts about ventilation on this flat part.(something I actually hadn't even considered) How do you ventilate if there is no attic?
