This is outside of my experience area. I get confused at the difference between structural systems versus diaphragm strength.

Standing Seam metal roofs can have some diaphragm capacity, especially if it is mechanically seamed and is utilizing a fixed clip system in lieu of a floating system. However, most companies have not tested for this strength and those that have, you will probably find that the strength is not enough to eliminate the deck. You will find in most manufacturers literature, there is usually a dislcaimer in relation to diaphragm strength.
