Hi our house has one gable vent at each end and no ridge vent and no soffit vents. There is no soffit vents due to low pitched roofs all the way across the front and back of the house. the low pitch roofs is 2x6 and filled with either fiberglass batts or blown insulation. we just installed a new metal roof using 1x4 furr strips over the existing shingles. shouldnt the metal roof vent be venting from the air space between the metal roof and old shingles. I would like to cool my roof down even more. any suggestion?

I do not know how the roof was installed but had it been installed with vertical battens and then horizontal ones the resulting cavity could have been vented with intake at the bottom and ridge vent as exhaust. That would have been helpful. Todd Miller

The roof was installed whith the batts running horizional. so the only means of air flow is thu the 3/4" high rises in the metal these 3/4" rises is on 9" centers. no enclosers was used, so it can breath between the metal and shingles, no ridge vent was intalled because of possible hurricane driven rain and no soffits. Im sure its venting some just dont know how much, my attic on a 96 degree hot sunny day reaches 107 dregees. is this to hot or is it about normal. the attic temp is only a few degrees higher than outside temp on a cloudy day. Would intalling power vent fans or solar fans to pull air between the metal and shingles be worth while, or am i spending to much time on my attic temp.
