We are having a standing seam metal roof installed on our roof. The roofer ordered the panels two inches too short at the ridge. He wants to cut the ribs off of extra scrap panels and lay the flat pan without the ribs on top of the existing panels. Then glue them with caulk and place the ridge cap on the roof. He feels this is better then having a wider ridge cap bent up to fit correctly. Is this ok?

I would not want this on my roof. I would much rather the ridge flashing be reordered wider if neccessary and the closures at the ridge moved down slope enough to seal to the panels.
