Is there a law in Florida stating that HOAs can't ban energy-saving devices such as metal roofs? My community currently won't allow metal roofs and we want a standing seam roof because of it's energy savings, tax credit, FPL rebate and look.

Not aware of a low like that.
However, if you email me at [email protected] I will be happy to dialog some with you about some options that are available for helping to get HOA's to change their requirements.

I am president of a small HOA, We currently specify Timberline GAF 30, Hickory as our roofing material. I would like to change the bylaws to alllow metal roofing. My thoughts are that if it is a proven energy saving, more hurricaine resistant that a homeowner could not be denied the right to improve the homes safety and energy requirements. Is there any metal shingle that looks similar to Timberline Gaf 30 Hickory

There are many attractive metal shingles out there, perhaps not as an exact duplicate, but that do have a similar look.
Again, if you contact me direct I can help connect you with industry resources that can work with your HOA.
