I know that Metalworks is not a member of Metal Roofing Alliance but I have to let consumers know of thier policy on warranties. When I needed a new roof I had my mind set on steel roofing. I contacted Metalworks and they directed me to a supplier who in turn provided the name of a contractor. When I had problems they sent a representative who inspected the roof. The inspecter looked at my roof and made a report to Metalworks, who then sent me a letter stating thier policy on thier product. The letter states that the contractor is a qualified installer among other things. Now that the problems are severe they deny that the contractor is qualified and refuse to honor the warranty. Needless to say I am disappointed in what has transpired and it might be for the better that Metalworks has dropped out of the Alliance.

As an association we are not allowed to discuss warranties or pricing. Metalworks has rejoined our association and to the best of my knowledge their product meets the minimum performance guidelines of the Metal Construction Association that we adhere to.
I think it is safe to say that our members are not in the business to design and manufacture roofs that leak. This is typically related to the workmanship of the installing contractor.
It is really the contractor that you must pressure to have the issue resolved and it is best to work with all parties to keep pressure on him. The best of course is payment.
We have found that it is best to prepare a reasonable list of defects with the installation and present it to the contractor with copies to the manufactuer and distributorand ask that he address them. Hope this helps.
