We had skylights on our roof until this morning when the bulit up snow slid off and took the skylights with it. Luckily the room is under construction and there was no other damage. Are there any skylights that are flush with the roof to prevent the snow from building up above them? Or a way to install a standard one so the snow will go over the top of it?

In my experience with metal roofing, in all climates, we have suggested high quality curb-mounted or "box" skylights. We have never experienced any troubles with them.
I really need to know more about how your skylights were installed and what type they were. Feel free to contact me direct.
In most cases, due to the configuration of metal roofing panels, flush skylights cannot be integrated successfully into the roof system.
