We installing a white standing seam roof on our new construction in the Bahamas. The 5/8 decking is already on which has been covered on the interior with a bamboo panel.
It is a cathedral ceiling with a 6/12 pitch. There is grace i/w shield over the entire decking. We are getting different recommendations on venting or not venting. 1 is to apply the standing seam directly to the decking - since it is a white roof it should reflect 70% of the heat - this would be the least expensive way. 2nd is to install purlins with reflective foil in between. Question - will the added labor/material be beneficial.
Please also comment on any unforseen problems.
We will have a number of ceiling fans, have plenty of cross ventilation and will not be relying on air conditioning.

Ventilation is not just for heat control but also for humidity control. I would suggest good ventilation in your case unless you will be using spray insulation.
