My house is about 9 years old and after reading about ventilation I think I have a problem. I am not sure who the manufacturer is but after looking a Mueller's website it appears to be what they call RPN panels. The roof is installed on 2X4 lads set on 2' center. There is nothing between the roof and the lads. The roof is forest green so I know that it will draw quite a bit of heat but it gets very hot. In the winter it appears to get frost on the under side during the night and of course melts when the sun hits it. I don't think that I have soffit vents or ridge vents. It looks like the closures they use on the ridge cap is so dense they would not allow venting. I do have large (I think 36") gable vents on both ends of the house(ranch style). Should I add a power attic ventilator or would it be worth all the effort to try and add soffit and ridge vents.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Let me ask you this ... even though your situation may be ideal, what leads you tobelieve you have a problem? Just too hot in the attic or getting condensation in the attic?

I bought a vented ridge cap to put on. If i cut out the old shingle ridge cap and then put down my new metal vented ridge can i get rid of the attic vents?

Ventilation requires intake and exhaust. A great source of info is www.airvent.com
Think of wanting to "bathe" the underside of your roof deck with fresh air continually.
