I have a 3/12 roof with 23' 2x6 rafters on 16" centers. I am interested in putting on a standing seam metal roof. My issue is that I have sagging in some of the rafters - as much as an inch off straight. I understand that is an issue for a metal roof. How difficult is that to correct, how is it corrected, and is it terribly expensive?

There are many types of metal roofing. Some are designed to install over strapping which give you an excellant opportunity to shim out the roof. I would however rebrace the attic rafters first to stop any sag. Depending on your area the design seems light.
Some standing seam roofs are designed to go on strapping and yes the roof should be straightened out with the strapping. Take the time and the appearance will be well worth the effort. Good Luck
