We are roofing with a battenless metal stone coated shake installed direct to existing wood sheathing. Can a foil type radiant barrier be installed directly on top of the sheathing without the use of battens? Battens are not an option.

You can install a radiant barrier the same way you do felt. You nail it on with plastic cap nails. We use Polaralum and you install it with the foil side down.

Thanks Wade.
I have always been told that the shiny side of a radiant barrier needs to face an airspace to be effective. Is that not the case in your experience?
