I'm looking at getting a metal roof put on my low slope roof. I'm hoping that this will resolve a problem that I'm having with some ice build up on the long side of my outside wall. Right now there's about 1' of ice built up that is causing a leak inside. My ashphalt roofing is only approx 8 years old plus I have a weather shield membrane installed as well.
What do you think. Is this the right thing?

It probably will not stop the ice build-up but you can stop the leaks inside. I would put a good peel and stick membrane down to deal with the ice damming you are experiencing.
