On hip roofs and bird boxes I have always bent a one inch "L" bend in the fascia and installed it overlapping the the straight cut. I fastened it in place with colored stainless steel nails.
I have always put the bend in an out of view area.
Today I was told that I was doing this incorrectly. That the straight cut should cover the bend. This leaves an edge that is not always tight against the bend.
Is there a right or wrong way? I've been doing it the first way for over 30 years an now to be told on the fifth day of a new job that I've been doing it wrong is shocking.
Let me know what you think.
