I am wanting a metal roof primarily for cooling effects. I find it very confusing to see that energy star approved colors seem to be light colors but also selected dark colors such as green and red. I cannot find any details as to why this is on the ES website. I don't understand this 're-emit' ideas that colors have described on this site. Secondly, What about silver? White is often said to be the best but is silver (galvinized) even better? Can you point me to an article that discusses all this in depth? Thank you, Kelly

Great questions, Kelly. It can be confusing. Here is a good source of info: http://www.coolmetalroofing.com/content/about/ Basically, light colors are reflective. Silver would be reflective. However, with special pigmenttation, dark colors can be made to be reflective. Todd Miller
