I have a straight roof house with one layer of shingles, 15 year old. Good plywood on top of house. I have two fixed velux skylights on house, used step flashing around skylight. I can buy flashing kit from velux for the metal roof if I need to. Or should I let the contractor do the flashing? Also, do I need to take the old shingles off due to skylights being on the house?

Honestly, Gary, every question here is going to have its answer based upon what profile of metal roof you choose. Generally I would say the existing shingles can stay in place with a quality underlayment on top and I would let the roofer flash the skylights. However, again, these need to be answered by the manufacturer of the product you choose.
