Is it possible to reuse metal shingles that are less than one year old. The shingles were installed incorrectly and they need to be removed to stop leaks. I would like to reinstall them so as to minimize the cost of reroofing. The shingles are approximately 12 inches by 36 inches each.

There are a number of metal shingles out there. Some have a four way folded interloc connection.
Some have interlocs top and bottom and side overlaps.
Some use nails or screws along the top of the flange and some use clips with nails or screws.
Generally speaking you should be able to remove the shingles from the top down with minimal damage. Take care not to scracth the finish when you pile them.
Having said all that can we help identify the souce of the leaks and suggest a less radical corrective action. You can contact me directly off line if you like.
