I have my parents older home with a chicken house 40 x 200 with a tin roof in good shape except rusty. Can I paint this or should I replace it with a new metal roof.

Depending upon how rusty, painting may get you a few more years. If it was my roof, I would wait until the rust got pretty bad and then replace it.
