Building a new home. The roofing contractor is installing a standing seam roof, yet it is much different from the standing seam roof on my previous home. He is not crimping the seam nor is there any overlap past the roof line edge. Is this proper building practice? Thank you for any info.

Some standing seam profiles require field seaming or crimping, while others snap together. Most standing seam roof manufacturers recommend some type of overhang at the eave, unless a cleated eave detail is being used. It would be a good idea to contact the roofing manufacturer for their recommendations for the specific roof system you are having installed.
