I purchased my home about four years ago. I was told that I needed to coat my aluminum roof; which I did. Well the one side of the house looks very thin and almost red in color. The sealant was allowed to run and clogged the "yankee gutters". I am no getting moisture damage along the edges. The attic is a nice size and I wanted to get additional living space, but I don't know where to start. Someone suggested having a shingle roof installed, is that necessary? I wanted to remove the yankee gutters, properly coat the roof, install slanted vents and a couple of sky lights. Is this roof worth salvaging? What is the best coating to put on it and how often?
