I need some help. I will be installing a metal roof over existing ashpalt shingles
on my 24 year old gambrel style log home. The problem is that the logs on the ends have sagged and the peak slopes down (4")on each side from the center of the peak. I am planning shimming with 2x4s bring the roof back up to level. Also, I am thinking about additional rigid foam insulation (or rolled insulation) between the perlins to increase insulation factors and help with sound. Because of the construction of the home, I don't have to worry a vapor barrier.
Existing roof:
Cathedral Ceiling: 2x8 shiplap boards extend outside over the exterior logs. Space between boards allow cold air to enter into house.
4" of Blue foam over the shiplap boards
Plywood over blue foam
Finally, asphalt shingles.
Thank in advance for your assistance.

Thanks for planning on metal.
I am very sorry but I do not see where you have a question. What can we help you with?
I will say this -- make sure that the manufacturer of the product you choose approves of your planned installation method. It will vary from product to product.
