I just purchased an old building from 1926. It has a shingled solid tin roof. It is painted in a silver metalic like paint possibly galvanized. The roof is in perfect condition, I would just like to change its color. It has some black alge from some debris laying on it and shade. How would yopu reccomend going about painting it and what product would I use.

Your making me feel old. Probably it has been painted with a zinc rich paint which provides for good protection. If so you should be able to clean it and paint it with a good iron oxide primer and then with a quality colour coat. Try and find one that has ceramic pigments in it and probably stick to the lighter colours which will not chalk and fade as fast as dark ones. Find an industrial paint supplier and ask their advice as they know what will perform best in your climate and price range.
