Hi, Current roof is non insulated 1 1/2 to 12 pitch asphalt/gravel. I'd like to insulate, and cover it with a simulated spanish tile look metal roof. What is the minimum pitch for that style metal roof? If I need to increase the pitch what is the best way to do that? If I want to insulate before roofing, what is the minimum R value I should add? Any suggestions regarding combining insulation and changing the pitich. Thanks

I believe that all of the metal tiles require a 3:12 pitch. To create this, you will need to make sure your house can handle the weight of tapered trusses and the roofing system. Some of the metal tiles do not require decking beneath them so that could help reduce overall weight. The insulation choice is yours but I would suggest, if you increase the pitch, venting the resulting air chamber with soffit vents and a ridge vent. Todd Miller
