We own a seasonal home on a lake and resently replaced a shingled roof with standing seam metal. The wrap-around porch roof pitches in four directions and the ridges are not covered. The raised seam joints have clear silicone caulk which can be seen from the second floor windows.
The homes in the area with similar roofs have "caps". Should the "ridges" be capped?
There are no leaks; it just doesn't look good. (hope you understand my question because I'm unsure of the terminology)
Thanks, John

I have seen a few craftsmen who hand-form standing seam using tongs and crimpers successfully do ridges without a cap. However, generally, especially on a pre-manufactured standing seam, there should be a cap and a vented one is never a bad idea.
Can you contact the roofing manufacturer for their input?
