I am having a standing seam roof installed on my coastal property in Florida. The architects plans call for off ridge vents, but the contractor says off ridge vents are not even manufactured for metal roofs. The soffits are not vented due to wind driven moisture issues during hurricanes. How should my metal roof be vented?

There are many types of ridge venting and venting is now a requirement of the building codes and with metal it has proven to significantly reduce energy costs. First check with the manufacturer. There are a number of vented mesh closures either profiled or universal that meet the needs at the ridge and even the eave readily available.
