I see many modern homes in the magazines with Zinc metal cladding used on roofs and walls. Usually it shown with standing seams. I really like the warm tone of the metal and would like to use it in a residential application - for both roof and walls.
Could you provide any information as to the pros and cons (cost, longevity,...) of this and who may manufacture it. I know that zink is used in the galvanizing of metal, but these applications that I have seen are always labeld as zink metal cladding.
Also - if used over a 1/2" osb for roof and walls, what should be used under the metal. I have seen rubber roof membrane products used, such as Grace Ice and Water shield. Is that the best way to go? Thanks

In using metals one needs to watch reactions with certain prodiucts. Most zinc products are installed on breather mebranes to keep the condensation away and separate diffential surfaces.
