Can you tell me what affects would adding a radiant barrier underneath a metal roof while allowing an air gap would be?
Also, what would th increase in temperature be?

This is a pretty broad question. First it depends on what type of reflective barrier as some have insulation properties. If you are using it on an uninsulated/unventilated assembly say as an old church roof, then the products properties are better on keeping the hot/cool to the interior of the building. We have achieved very good results with this type on application and helped the customer on lowering their energy requirements.
As to reflecting back out the suns rays, you will have the best results by using a lighter colour metal such as white which can reflect up to 65% of the rays in itself and makes the refletive barrier less effective.
Having a vented air space under any roof material is also an important thing to do. This will allow any immisive heat to escape before it transfers into the assembly.
If you were installing a bare metalic roof or one with a white backer coat, any rays that are reflectd out by the barrier would tend to bounce back.
Hope I have been able to help you understand the workings. If you have more detailed questions please contact me directly and I will see what I can dd to help.
