I have removed an asphalt room and replacing it with a metal roof. I am installing the metal roof over a 4" thick foam base on top of 2" tongue and groove pine
My question is should I place a tarpaper on top of the foam before placing the metal roof on. The silvered covering on top of the form was distrupted, but the foam is intact

Yes, you will want to apply a suitable underlayment. Is there currently any ventilation in this construction? If not, this would be a good opportunity to consider cross battens and ventilation with an appropriate metal roof system over the foam.
